Saturday, June 1, 2024 couldn't have been a better day if we got to place a weather order.
Over 200 people made their way to the Billerica Elks to support the Manetta Strong Foundation.
The turnout was completely mind blowing and overwhelming to say the least.
We can't thank all of you enough. This is only going to get bigger, and better.
Thank you isn't nearly enough but THANK YOU to all our Corporate Sponsors....this event couldn't have happened without you. To all the folks and businesses who donated gift cards or raffle baskets, WOW. You guys were the talk of the event. The quality and selection of raffles were the best we have ever seen at a fundraising event!
36 teams competed in our First Annual Back Yard Olympics.
Dylan Higson and Aidan Fortunato took home the first-place pot beating out the second-place team by just ONE point.
Seems fitting that a foundation focused on supporting Vocational Students would be crowning
two juniors at the Shawsheen Tech Champs. They might be kicking butt in Backyard Olympic Games, but since they are both currently training to be electricians, we know (and as Johnny would say many, many times) they aren't being trained to clean up after themselves on the job site! But we won't hold that against them on the Back Yard Olympics Field!
Monday, June 3rd Shawsheen Tech held their senior day awards ceremony, and the Manetta Strong Foundation was able to squeeze last minute onto the roster. After such a successful event Saturday, we didn't want to miss the opportunity to
give back on our first year.
Since we could not open up the scholarship application process to all students, we though it fitting that our first recipients would be graduating HVAC seniors, since the formally known as ACR shop was where it all started for John.
David Norkiewicz, Shawsheen's Director of Vocational & Technical Programs introduced the Manetta Strong Foundation Presentation, but as John's former shop teacher and friend, he gave a little insight into who John was.
We received very generous raffle donations in multiples from T&T Electrical and Brunt Boots.
Instead of raffling off all five of the items they both donated, HVAC Senior Sean Molyneau took home a Milwakee Hammer Drill and Impact Kit and HVAC Senior Michael Lindsey took home Brunt Hat and Work boots.
All 17 graduating seniors were given a Home Depot Gift Card and we send our most sincere best wishes to them and continued success in their newly formed careers. And we hope to see them ALL on the Olympics Battle Field next year!
